Learning Ĝusso, Hindi and English: Does it confuse children?

Updated: Nov 5, 2018

Some parents believe that teaching two or three languages is harmful for children. "Children get confused if they have to learn many languages at the same time." they say. Therefore they teach Hindi to their children at home. At school they want their children to speak in English since it is the language of future opportunities. They give up their mother tongue due to the belief that teaching too many languages confuses their children.

But is it true that learning many languages is harmful for children? What do scientists say? Click on the videos below and find out:

(Word-meanings:

a monolingual person = a person who knows only one language.

a bilingual person = a person who knows two languages fluently.

a multilingual person = a person who knows many languages fluently.

Alzheimer's disease = a disease of the brain which usually affects older people. It causes degeneration of the brain resulting in forgetfulness and loss of cognitive functions of the brain.)
